Man It Feels Good To Be An Author

The last time I wrote on this site, I was just regular ol' Erika Mitchell. Writer, wife, mother, and frequent burner of muffins and other baked goods.

As of February 4, though, I can add another title to my list of greatest hits: AUTHOR.

I've been writing for years, but I always corrected people if they referred to me as an author. To me, being an author means being published. I think anyone can be a writer, especially if they want to write, but being an author is special. It takes work, dedication, persistence, and maybe a little luck.

I wanted to save the moment I allowed myself to be called an author for when I could say it and mean it. And now, here I am.

It feels sooooo good.

So now, you know, if we go to a party together sometime, feel free to introduce me as your author friend. I promise I won't correct you!

(If you're curious and want to see my book out in the wild where just anyone can see it, you can check it out here)

Congratulations. Hope you retain your enthusiam.

Remember that with success comes responsibility. That separates the authors from the writers, too.

PS: I liked you, and thanks for not asking us to.

Congrats Erika, you author you. Lately when asked what I do, I respond with "I'm a novelist." Great fun.
